Social media and video has transformed how law enforcement agencies connect with communities, from posting police recruitment PSAs to engaging in viral video challenges.
The holiday season, in particular, sees agencies become extra creative as they share messages of goodwill and holiday safety tips, while also remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Here are our top picks of 2019. Who did we miss? Share in the comment box below.
1. Kentucky State Police: Remembering those who gave all
“In this season of giving...we remember those who gave it all” is the message in this moving tribute to fallen heroes of the Kentucky State Police. A beautiful rendition of “Silent Night” plays as the camera pans to show photos of the officers who gave all so others may live. This will bring a tear to your eye.
2. Lexington (Kentucky) Police Department: My Stolen Things
Just in time for the holiday season, the Lexington Police Department warns people about car break-ins in this musical PSA. The video is sung to the melody of the Sound of Music song “My Favorite Things.”
3. Mountain View Police Department: Santa files a police report
It is all hands on deck at the Mountain View (California) Police Department when St. Nicholas files a police report of a missing package described as “a red box with a green bow.” A K-9 officer saves the day and it is all caught on bodycam!
4. Mount Pleasant (South Carolina) Police Department: Twas the night before Christmas
In this cop version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” the Mount Pleasant Police Department lists the many ways officers protect citizens throughout the holiday season in the agency’s first Christmas video.
5. Elgin (Illinois) Police Department: Lighting up the night
