HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida sheriff is warning students to avoid social media challenges that inspire criminal activity, such as TikTok’s “devious licks” challenge, according to WFLA.
“It may seem like a silly TikTok challenge, but trust me it will have very real consequences,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a PSA on YouTube. “It is never okay to steal, vandalize property or hurt someone or yourself.”

The viral “devious licks” challenge has inspired some TikTok users to steal and vandalize school property. According to WFLA, some Hillsborough students have even ripped out bathroom sinks.
“The law, if it’s going to be broken, we’re going to address it in a collective manner,” said Superintendent Addison Davis in an interview with WFLA.
