1. Where did your company name originate from?
When we began, our vision extended beyond being just a firearms training simulator. We aimed to create a unique approach that blended classroom objectives with cutting-edge technology, focusing on achieving Multiple Interactive Learning Objectives (MILO). Initially, “MILO” was simply an internal product development placeholder, but it quickly resonated with customers and trainers alike.
The acronym’s popularity grew so much that it became our official product and company name. Today, MILO is synonymous with simulation training, seamlessly integrating judgmental training, tactical decision-making, and force application into one immersive experience.
2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
MILO was founded over 30 years ago at a time when immersive technology and computer-based learning were just beginning to make an impact in high-stakes training. Recognizing critical gaps in the tools available, we set out to create innovative solutions that deliver better outcomes for officers and public safety professionals.

MILO Virtual Solutions include our flagship MILO Range Product Line: MILO Range Theaters (180° and 300°), the versatile Pro system, and portable options like Advanced, Classic, and MSATS. Our offerings also include Live Fire systems, which integrate virtual technology for fully immersive scenario-based training with live ammunition.
All MILO products are self-contained, Windows-based systems operated in a secure, off-network loop, featuring proprietary hit-detection, night vision/low-light capabilities, trainee feedback cameras, projection, and an instructor interface.
MILO’s systems cater to diverse training needs—from single-screen simulators with IR-laser training weapons matched to agency standards, to fully immersive 300° motion-tracking “shoothouse” setups. Each system includes skill-focused modes, featuring over 60 real-time shot feedback and analysis exercises with static and moving targets, as well as customizable HD video role-play scenarios that immerse trainees in decision-making environments. Advanced features like firearm recoil kits, shootback systems, and live-fire/laser options enhance realism and adaptability.
Our extensive library of over 1,000 scenarios supports firearms, de-escalation, and communication training, equipping users with practical skills for real-life situations. Additionally, our newest product, MILO VR, introduces immersive 360° virtual environments that prepare trainees for tactical challenges, de-escalation strategies, and effective communication, simulating the realities officers face in the field.
