MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A chaotic police pursuit ended with a multi-vehicle crash involving a van, Metrobus and police cruiser on Monday.
WJLA News reported police responded to an armed robbery of a cellphone and were able to track down the suspects using the Find My iPhone feature on the victim’s phone, which provided real-time updates of the robbers’ location to help intercept the thieves.
Using the technology, officers encountered three potential suspects at a local shopping center, according to WJLA. The suspects attempted to flee once police arrived, with Montgomery County officers pursuing their vehicle until it crashed into the back of a Metrobus. The sudden stop caused a police cruiser to smash into the back of the suspects’ vehicle.
One of the suspects can be seen on video dangling from a car window following the crash. He was rescued by Montgomery County Fire crews and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
WJLA reported two adult passengers on board the wrecked Metrobus were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
