ATLANTA — Camera footage caught the moment Atlanta police officers apprehended a fleeing suspect wanted for murder and vehicular theft.
WSB-TV2 reported that the officers saw a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier in the month. The driver, Jetarvius Q. Thompson, 21, had previously fled from police. However, thanks to the Aviation Unit, the suspect was located and followed from the sky.
In the footage, Thompson gets out of the vehicle and flees into a wooded area. He manages to make his way to a lake, where he swam trying to get away from the officers. Instead, officers jumped into the lake after Thompson, apprehending and arresting him before he made it to the other side.
Thompson was arrested on a number of charges, including reckless driving, obstruction, fleeing and eluding police and driving without a license. He had a warrant out for murder in 2017 and another for cruelty toward children.
