LOS ANGELES — New photos shared by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department show one of their deputies recovering in the hospital after she and her partner were shot in an ambush earlier this month. The suspect, who was seen on video firing into their patrol car, has not yet been identified.
The photos shared to Facebook show the 31-year-old mother propped up in a hospital bed. She has not been officially named by the sheriff’s department and her face has been blurred out.
According to the agency, President Donald Trump called both deputies last week when they were both in the hospital. The male deputy was released September 16.
“This week #potus45 @realdonaldtrump called both of our deputies to check on their spirits, wish them a speedy recovery and remind them that the #american people are behind them and that the coward that harmed them will be brought to #justice!” the agency said on Facebook.
In the photos, Sergeant Frederickson holds a phone out to the deputy and her husband during Trump’s call, wrote the sheriff’s department. The deputy was unable to speak, but wrote down her responses so that Frederickson could relay them to Trump, according to the agency.
“Both of the deputies and their families were very appreciative of the call!” the agency wrote.
A reward for information leading to the alleged gunman’s arrest and conviction has grown to $640,000, reported KABC.
