BOSTON — Two Boston Police officers and a state trooper were taken to the hospital overnight after sustaining injuries in separate crashes.
The first collision occurred on Route 195 West in New Bedford as a trooper stopped to respond to a crash.
“Shortly before 11 PM last night, a Massachusetts State Trooper and his cruiser were hit by a vehicle as the Trooper was getting out of the cruiser to assist at the scene of a prior crash,” Massachusetts State Police posted Sunday morning.
State police said the trooper was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.
The driver who hit the trooper was also transported to a hospital with “minor injuries,” police said.
The investigation determining whether the driver will face charges is ongoing, according to the department. That crash is the second in less than a week of drivers smashing into state police responding to calls.

Another state trooper was hit in a similar incident last Wednesday on Route 91 in Easthampton. The trooper did not sustain injuries, a State Police Association of Massachusetts (SPAM) post said, but incidents like these are “too close of a call.”
“On behalf of all Association members, we remind everyone within the Commonwealth to SLOW DOWN AND MOVE OVER when approaching an emergency vehicle,” the association wrote.
A second accident overnight involving BPD officers occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday around Walnut Ave. and Dale Street in Roxbury.
Two officers were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, a BPD spokesperson said, and no further information on the incident is available at this time.
