RAWLINS, Wyo. — A heart-stopping moment was captured on video by an officer’s dash camera as an 18-wheeler narrowly missed a trooper working on the side of a highway earlier this week.
The video is from a Wyoming Highway Patrol officer’s dash camera, which shows troopers working on the side of the interstate to help victims involved in a car rollover. In the footage, a trooper in a yellow vest is on his way back to his patrol car when an out-of-control semi comes barreling toward him in the windy and snowy conditions. In a split-second, the trooper is able to avoid the semi, which comes to a stop a few feet away between the rolled over vehicle and a speed limit sign.
No one was injured in the incident, but the agency reminded viewers of the importance of moving over and slowing down for emergency vehicles.
“Please remember that emergency personnel want to be able to make it home safely at the end of their shift,” the agency wrote on Facebook. “Please slow down and move over.”
