LOS ANGELES — A woman is in custody after leading Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies on a pursuit in one of their own vehicles.
The pursuit started after a crash involving a deputy’s cruiser. The suspect, who was described only as a woman in her 30s, apparently stole the cruiser after the crash, KABC reported.
The suspect drove at speeds that at one time reached 160 mph, according to Fox 11, weaving through traffic to escape, before getting onto a freeway.
The pursuit eventually left the freeway and the suspect drove into an industrial park, avoiding a dead end. Deputies used a PIT maneuver and then pinned the cruiser in with other sheriff’s vehicles.
Deputies were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle without a struggle and take her into custody. Investigators said the woman did not have any form of identification with her when she was apprehended.
